A frame for a quiet moment

The pencil stroke from Gangneung's first page becomes a longer line here: the edge of a lake. Gyeongpodae Pavilion stands on a hill overlooking Gyeongpoho. First built elsewhere in 1326, it moved to this location in 1508. Poems and calligraphy inside connect the view with people who found words for it long before us.

A pavilion can make a landscape feel like a picture with a very generous frame. Once you have stopped in an allowed spot, let your gaze travel further than your feet. There is no need to find a famous reflection or wait for perfect light.

I would leave a broad blank space in my notebook. This is my reminder that a pause can be part of the journey, without needing to prove anything.
