A pebble in the city's name

After the hillside colours, this Busan page turns toward the water. Jagalchi's name recalls jagal, the pebbles of the old shoreline. Fish stalls grew into a larger market as refugees came to Busan during the Korean War. Today, the waterfront market brings the sea into the working rhythm of the city.

I would make this a listening page. From somewhere out of the way, notice a greeting, a trolley or the movement between stalls. There is no need to buy anything to be a considerate visitor. Ask before taking a close photograph of someone at work.

My notebook would hold a tiny drawn pebble. It reminds me that a familiar place name can carry an older shoreline inside it.
